The Mission

Accountability Through Facts

Bench Receipts exists for one reason: to document what happens when judges hand down sentences or DAs make prosecution choices that don't match the gravity of the crime. No opinions. No spin. Just the facts — the crime, the guidelines, the prosecutor's policy, and the outcome.

Every case on this site is sourced from public records, news reports, and court documents. We track the judge, the DA, the crime, what the guidelines or charges recommend, and what decision was actually made. When someone re-offends after a lenient sentence or plea agreement, we document that too.

"We keep the receipts."

How It Works

1. We Find the Story
Cases surface through news reports, court records, and community tips.
2. We Verify the Facts
We confirm the judge, the DA, the crime, the sentence, and the sentencing guidelines or policies through public records.
3. We Document Everything
Every case gets a profile with sources. Every judge and DA gets a record. The receipts don't lie.
4. We Track the Outcome
When a defendant re-offends after a lenient sentence or plea agreement, we update the record. Pattern → documented.

Have a Tip?

Know about a case where a judge or DA handed down a sentence or plea deal well below standard guidelines? Send it our way. We verify everything before it goes on the site.
